High Prairie Regional Aquatic Centre, Alberta

The High Prairie Regional Aquatic Centre has become a leader in the aquatics industry where creativity and innovation are an integral part of the overall operation. The Caribbean theme moved all as they entered this $5.3 million, state-of-the-art facility at the Grand Opening on December 9, 2005.

The Alberta Centennial Legacies Program provided funding and, to help off-set extra costs, and a sponsorship brochure was assembled to outline gift opportunities to help the Town achieve its financial assistance through private and corporate donations.

The design of the facility allows for future expansion and includes a 5-lane competition pool, therapeutic leisure pool with a warm up area, a 15-person hot tub, an integrated tots' area, and fun play features such as a raindrop unit, geysers, and a lazy river with vortex. Ramped access makes the therapeutic/leisure pool enjoyable and accessible for all. The Town of High Prairie can be very proud of their new Aquatic Centre that has quickly become the heart of this growing community.
VDA acted as Specialist Pool Consultant for this project in association with John Murray Architectural Associates.
